Justin Haagen

Justin Haagen, owner of Safety Matters, a Certified Training, has lots of experience and expertise. Justin's back ground and education is in Social Work. She earned a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from Marywood College in Pennsylvania. Justin spent part of her career working as a Crisis Counselor and Court Advocate with survivors of Domestic Violence. After several years of Social Work, Justin turned her career to business. She has spent many years in business management, marketing, sales and service. Her business management background includes serving several times as a General Manager as well as Director of Sales and Marketing. She has held positions in banking, retail management, disaster restoration and response and has been licensed for securities and insurance sales.

Justin holds instruction certifications from the American Safety & Health Institute and the American Heart Association.  Justin is also a  12 year C.E.R.T. instructor for the  city of Santa Barbara Fire Department and the city of Goleta. She is a member of Santa Barbara  C.E.R.T. (Community Emergency Response Team, a lay emergency responder team.)  Justin is also a Department of Homeland Security Disaster Preparedness trainer and conducts business and individual disaster preparedness workshops. 

Justin is involved in the community. She volunteers and serves as an Executive Committee member of Community Awareness Emergency Response (CAER). She is also on the Board of the Association of Senior Care. 

She is married to Ken and they have a son. Justin and her family resides in Santa Barbara.

Vito Summa  Emergency Room RN

Vito Summa is a Santa Barbara local that enjoys learning and participating in our community. He has been in the medical field for over 8 years and has been involved with Doctors without Walls, and has held current EMT for four years. Vito has several years of experience working in the emergency department as a medical scribe, documenting for emergency room physicians. Vito is a Registered Nurse. He enjoys hiking, surfing, and anything that involves hard work and the outdoors.  Vito is an Authorized American Heart Association Instructor in the Discipines of BLS, ACLS and PALS.

Daniel Haagen  EMT Paramedic

Daniel Haagen has been involved in teaching CPR and first aid for two years. Daniel is an accomplished Boy Scouts of American  Eagle Scout. He  has several years of experioence as both an EMT and as an Paramedic on the local Ambulance. Daniel is an Authorized American Heart Association Instructor in the Discipines of BLS, ACLS and PALS.
